Gabriele Münter bought 1908 on the urge of her companion, Wassily Kandinsky a house in Murnau, at the foot of the Alps, near Garmisch Partenkirchen. She bequeathed it later togehter with her art collection to the Municipal Gallery "Lenbachhaus" of Munich.

About ten years ago, some over a hundred years old linden trees on the way to the Münter-house were cut down due to road works.
As De Muynck heard about this, she had the idea that these trees must have "seen" as young trees almost every day Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky. The image of these two protagonists must have been carved in their " tree - memory" and she bought the remaning parts. On the occasion of the hunderd years jubilee, 2008, she startet to excavate the wood memory (Please, see also Projects)
